ROSA REBECKA - JONAH'S SONG (BalconyTV)

Acclaimed Swedish
singer/songwriter Rosa Rebecka comes to Kingskerswell with an evening of
acoustic music and scandi folk to delight the ears. Drawing together such
diverse influences as medieval troubadours, traditional Jewish and Swedish
music, and the singers and songwriters of the sixties folk revival, her
thoughtful and emotional lyrics are sung with a spine-tinglingly clear voice
that often draws comparisons to Joni Mitchell or Joan Baez. Her haunting vocals
are paired with the lush harmonies of Jo Hooper’s cello, performing a plethora
of sensitively composed and passionately performed original songs.

Support comes from the Exeter
Lucia singers, who will treat the audience to a candle-lit Scandinavian St
Lucia procession. This magical winter tradition sees white robed singers
perform seasonal Swedish songs, bringing light, hope and harmony to the
midwinter gloom.

“A lyrical, sundappled and golden
voice, tinged with a hint of steely moonlight” BBC Music
