Oct 6th Jess Vincent
with Jozeph Chowles with local support from KT Whitehouse & Jay The Bass
Kingskerswell Parish Church Doors 7pm www.worldunlimited.co.uk 01803 875527
Singer-Songwriter Jess Vincent moved from Wiltshire to Bulgaria a year ago and is touring the UK with partner and producer Jozeph Chowles with her fourth release, Lions Den. Not only (having been home recorded and produced in Old School Studios, Bulgaria) can we hear a thread of the people, stories, colours, flavours and instruments from Jess’s new life there, including Joe’s arrangements and musical contribution, Lions Den is also Jess’s bravest so far. "Since moving from the UK I've felt I had to step right back and look at the past in order to not repeat the same old mistakes. I decided to look my demons straight in the face for this album, and in doing so I've had to deal with many things I had kept hidden inside for a long time. This album and these songs are a true reflection of where I am now.”
This new sound takes Jess’s extraordinary talent in an exciting new direction without losing the trademark subtle arrangements on guitar, baritone uke and harmonium, and uniquely soaring vocal which have established her reputation as a highly original artist with a growing following in the alt folk/indie/Americana acoustic scene
“Incredible voice, incredible artist… each album as good as, if not better than the last”
John Godfrey Radio Troubadour
Jess will of course be playing old favourites from her previous three albums on tour.
“Jess Vincent doesn’t just Shine, she positively glows” Mike Davies folking.com
“..one of the brightest stars out there… Vincent’s crystal-clear vocals sending shivers down the spine. ” Malcolm Carter PennyBlack Music
"uniquely and obliquely original" Rock'n'Reel R2
“… accessible, tuneful folksiness, with dashes of Americana of the light-textured Appalachian variety” Folk n Roots
Also, hot off the press, Jess has invited her friend, Totnes singer-songwriter KT Whitehouse, to open the evening with some of her honest, vulnerability and occasionally playful songs, sung in her soft, melodious voice. Katie will play guitar and keyboards and will be joined by Jay the Bass on fretless bass.
“Katie Whitehouse understands songs, and she understands singing, and does both beautifully” Reg Meuross
“Lovely songs beautifully performed” Boo Hewerdine
